1. Data controller

The controller for personal data collected on this site is Coin des Montres, a platform for sales between private individuals. For any question about your data, you can contact us at privacy@coindesmontres.fr.

2. Data collected

Account data

Name, email address, profile photo (optional), town or region.

Listing data

Watch photos, descriptions, prices, reference, and the listing's location if provided.

Browsing data

Session cookies, usage preferences, IP address (security logs only).

Identity verification (optional)

If you request the “Identity verified” badge, you send us a copy of an identity document (front and back). This processing is based on your consent, and the documents are deleted immediately after review by our team, whether the request is accepted or refused. They are never passed on to third parties.

3. Purposes of processing

  • Managing user accounts and authentication
  • Putting buyers and sellers in touch
  • Displaying and managing listings
  • Improving the platform through traffic analysis
  • Securing transactions and preventing fraud
  • Communication relating to your account (notifications, messages)

4. Legal basis

Performance of the contract — processing necessary to manage your account and use the platform (Art. 6.1.b GDPR).

Consent — analytics and marketing cookies, collected only after explicit agreement (Art. 6.1.a GDPR).

Legitimate interest — platform security, prevention of abuse, access logs (Art. 6.1.f GDPR).

5. Retention period

Active account — data kept for the lifetime of the account.

Identity verification documents — deleted immediately after the request is reviewed (accepted or refused); never kept beyond that.

After account deletion — 30 days to allow reactivation, then permanent deletion.

Security logs — 12 months maximum.

Cookies — according to each cookie's own lifetime (see the table in section 7).

6. Your rights (GDPR Art. 15–22)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — obtain a copy of your personal data.
  • Right to rectification — correct inaccurate information.
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your data.
  • Right to portability — receive your data in a structured format.
  • Right to object — object to certain processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to restriction — temporarily restrict the processing of your data.
